Multi-Use Games Areas (MUGA)

The benefits of being able to repeatedly play a variety of different sports on a single artificial pitch, court or area is well-established. A Multi-use Games Area (MUGA) is now a fundamental part of most sporting infrastructure at schools, universities, clubs and leisure centres.

Tarmacadam, Polymeric and Artificial Grass playing surfaces are commonly specified and used in the construction MUGA facilities.

However, technological advances in artificial turf design in particular, has revolutionised this important area of facility provision, and now enables a MUGA to consistently deliver a level of performance comparable with that of a well-maintained top quality natural grass pitch. Equally, they offer excellent player protection and comfort and a multi-game accessibility and durability that traditional grass pitches just cannot match.

S&C Slatter is an acknowledged expert provider of training, recreational and match play artificial pitches for multi-use games, where our knowledge of creating sports-specific areas gives us an advanced appreciation of the practical performance needs of each sport. Our expertise coupled with an internationally recognised product range of surfaces allows us to design and construct pitch facilities where required with a certified standard of performance for example FIFA 1 and 2 Star and World Rugby Regulation 22.

The facilities vary in size from 200m2 Mini-ball courts to 9000m2 Full size sports pitches.

We believe that as a builder of Multi-use Games Areas, it’s simply not enough to have a good quality surfacing product: you have to have the experience to deliver this in a project which returns targetted and sustainable benefits for the client

And so, at S&C Slatter, when developing specifications and plans for a new MUGA, you will see us placing as much emphasis and importance on how a project is structured and managed, as on the design and construction elements of the proposed facility.

We also set great store by creating a spirit of partnership with our clients, ensuring that each part of the process is communicated and understood as it progresses. Feedback from previous projects confirms that this approach is appreciated by our customers and really helps to deliver on plan.
